With the acquisition of a property in the center of Varano de’ Melegari, the Foundation envisioned its new headquarters as a space open to the community. For this reason, the architectural design for the renovation and transformation of the site was preceded—and guided—by the development of a shared social vision: how the space should function, the types of activities it could host, and the connections it could foster within the local context.

KCity, a firm specializing in urban regeneration and innovation, supported the Foundation in developing this vision through a model of “social construction” alongside the physical construction process. This approach interprets the new headquarters as an opportunity to activate a process of social resilience, where community resources and skills can emerge, opening new pathways for local development and strengthening the role of local organizations.
